ASSIGNMENT

1. Explain the behavior of gasses in terms of the kinetic molecular theory

- The magnitude of the gas pressure is determined by the number of

collisions that gas particles have with the walls of their container and the
force with which they collide. The average kinetic energy is proportional to
temperature.

2. Describe the properties of gasses and its comparison to solid and liquid

- Solid: Has a definite shape and volume. Liquid: Has a definite volume, but
takes the shape of the container. Gas: Has no definite shape or volume.

3. What is the relationship between the Volume and Pressure of gasses?

- More collisions equal more force, so the pressure rises. When the volume
is reduced, the pressure rises. This demonstrates that a gas's pressure is
inversely proportional to its volume.

4. What is the relationship between the Volume and temperature of gasses?

- At constant pressure, the volume of a given gas sample is directly

proportional to its absolute temperature (Charles' law). When temperature
is held constant, the volume of a given amount of gas is inversely
proportional to its pressure (Boyle's law).
