INTRODUCTION

derivative, in mathematics, the rate of change of a

function with respect to a variable. Derivatives are
fundamental to the solution of problems in calculus
and differential equations.
ABSTRACT:
This paper describes about the usefulness of derivatives in reallife. Issac
Newton the father of Calculus invented the calculus. But anyone knows
what made Isaac invent calculus??? Here in this paper theré are allthe
answers ofyour questions.
BIRTH OF APPLICATION OF DERIVATIVES
• In Isaac Newton's day, one of the biggest problems was poor navigation at
sea.
• Before calculus was developed, the stars were vital for navigation.
•Calculus (differentiation and integration) was developed to improve this
understanding.
• Differentiation and integration can help us solve many types of realworld
problems.
• We use the derivative to determine the maximum and minimum values of
particular functions (for example cost, profit, loss, etc.).
• Derivatives are met in many engineering and science problems, especially
when modeling the behavior of moving objects.
• Our discussion begins with some general applications which we can then
apply to specific problems.
APPLICATIONS OF MAXIMA AND MINIMA IN DAILY LIFE
There are numerous practical applications

in
which it is desired to find the maximum or
minimum value of a particular quantity. Such
applications exist in economics, business, and
engineering. Many can be solved using the
methods of differential calculus described
above. For example, in any manufacturing
business it is usually possible to express profit
as a function of the number of units sold.
Finding a maximum for this function
represents a straightforward way of
maximizing profits. In other cases, the shape
of a container may be determined by
minimizing the amount of material required
to manufacture it.
Say FPS. When you shoot
a moving enemy, it is
very easy to miss. So you
need to “predict” where
they might be in the next
moment, and then shoot
there. That’s how you get
them
DPR function (damage per
round), which would be a
degree 2 polynomial in x.
With derivatives, you can
find the optimal x for this
DPR function. Then your
fighter will always fight a
little better than other
fighters of the same level.
