Protein Synthesis Inhibitors
• Substances that stop or suspend the growth or
proliferation of bacterial cell after disrupting the
processes of new protein formation
• A diverse group of antibiotics grouped together
because of having common MOA
• The target often differes (overlaps as well )
• However, all affect the ribosomal assembly
• They exert the antimicrobial effects by targeting
the microbial ribosomes

either a particular infection or for a particular
bacterial species
• They have an important role as antibacterial
agents
