Types of Depression

Major depression
Major depression period or major depressive episodes in some might occur once or
twice in the lifetime or in some they might occur more frequently. These episodeThese
episodes can occur after some triggers which include a romantic breakup, death of a
loved one, medical illness etc. Patients of Major depression, tend to lose all hope and
deem life as not worth living. They might be drivedderived to end their lives. Some
symptoms of a major depressive episode include Lingering saddesssadness, irritability
and restlessness for most of the day. (Can sometimes go on for a fewdaysfew days),
Losing interest in activities or hobbies one normally enjoys, Guilt trips, feelings of
worthlessness or demotivation, Concentration, memory problems and struggling with
decision making, Insomnia or oversleeping, Low appetite leading to weight loss or
overeating leading to excessieexcessive weight gain, SucidalSuicidal thoughts or self-
harm,

Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD)


PDD tends to be less severe than Major depression but can last for a longer time such
as up to 2 years. The symptoms for both are similar. Mild stress, losing interest and
restlessness can all me signs of PDD.

Bipolar disorder (manic depression)


Bipolar Disorder are characterized as recurring severe mood changes. These moods
can last for days and uptoup to months even. These might even occur at the same time.
Some symptoms include insomnia, sudden severe changes in appetite, sucidalsuicidal
thoughts and agitation. There can be periods of normal moods between the episodes.
