Editors note: This story takes place before the events of Fear Itself

Yggdrasil--the world tree--has been rendered in twain; now a giant geyser of strange light reflecting all of spacetime bursts forth from the center of fallen asgard, a beacon of extraordinary power for all to see. At the behest of odin the all-father, the mighty thor and sif dove into the gnarled porthole between worlds to retrieve the worldheart, a kind of seed that grew within it. The cost was dire--the god of thunder was gashed across the gut and from the wound pours not blood, but rather, that strange light of the world tree. Fallen asgards nearest earthbound neighbors in broxton, oklahoma, shift and squirm more and more at the presence of such godly titans so near to their homesand as their imaginations are beggared by the theological implications of living next door to deities, the silver surfer, herald of the worldeater galactus, passes through broxton on his way to asgard. Fearing for their safety, the oklahoma citizens have declared a ban on all of asgard! Now the asgardians head to war, not with the citizens of broxton, but against galactus and his celestial herald for the possession of the worldheart
