Choose three Filipino scientists and inventors and identify the profession, specialization, and

his/her significant contribution as well as the impact of their inventions and discoveries to
the society.

Ame P. Garong, a Museum Researcher at the National Museum of the Philippines,

published a book Ancient Filipino Diet. This research provided data which was the
expected wildlife food that was available such as deer, pigs, chickens, fish, etc. Although
this data can be concluded from other sources, this information still provided knowledge
to what was consumed by pre-historic people.

Gavino C. Trono, a National Scientist, is renowned for his outstanding

contributions in the field of tropical marine psychology with focus on seaweed biodiversity.
His discoveries led to implementations of 45 research projects and has published 25 new
species of algae. This information is helpful for our country is a tropical country and is
surrounded by marine wildlife.

Angel C. Alcala, a scientist, biologist, identified 50 new species of reptiles and

amphibians over the course of his decades-long career as an accomplished biologist.
This discovery of species helps the future generation make distinction easier from one
species to another specially since a lot of reptiles have very close similarities to one
another.
