VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant posts that exist at
Mulanje District Council in the following sectors:

MULANJE DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Job Title: Statistical Clerk


Grade: M
Location: Mulanje District Council
Age: 18-40 years

Duties and responsibilities


1. Collection of data from established program
2. Compiling data from administrative records
3. Coding data
4. Perform data entry
5. Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Academic Qualifications
Applicants must be holders of the Malawi School Certificate of Education with credits in
Mathematics and English. Those with a certificate in Statistics or Computer related field will
have an added advantage. Applicants must also have two years’ work experience.
Job Title: PBX Operator
Grade: O
Location: Mulanje District Council
Age: 18-45 years

Duties and responsibilities


1. Answer incoming telephone calls
2. Make outgoing calls
3. Transfer information
4. Troubleshoot and report equipment faults
5. Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Academic Qualifications
Applicants must be holders of the Malawi School Certificate of Education with two years’ work
experience. Those with a certificate in front office will have an added advantage.

Job Title: Security Guard


Grade: P/M13
Location: Mulanje District Council
Age: 25 – 45 Years

Duties and Responsibilities:


1 Guard office Premises
2 Report of any detect noted to the Head Security Guard or Administration head as
soon as possible
3 Make proper checking of premises before taking over the guarding
responsibilities and making proper hand overs before checking out.
4 Check out water pipes in case there would be water running
5 Clean the office surroundings as directed by the Head Security Guard.

Education Qualifications Applicants must be in possession of a Junior Certificate of


Education with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience. Those with MSCE will have an
added advantage.
Job Title: Senior Stores Clerk
Grade: L/M11
Location: Mulanje District Council
Age: 25 – 45 Years

Duties and Responsibilities


1. Care and custody of stores
2. Receiving of incoming goods both purchased or donated
3. Issue of supplies to different Department/Facilities
4. Doing daily stock taking
5. Annual stock taking
6. Inventory updating
7. Recording of incoming stock in different Stock Ledgers
8. Recording of incoming supplies in register
9. Raising of requisitions in case of dues out and means of Replenishing stocks
10. Stock controls
11. Request management to facilitate the sale of outdated items (Board off)
12. Supervise staff in stores.

Education Qualifications: Applicants must be in possession of a Malawi School


Certificate of Education with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Stores
Clerical Officer at Grade (M).Those with a certificate in Stores Management, Purchasing

Job Title: Senior Disease Control Surveillance Assistant


Grade: HL/M 10
Location: Mulanje District Council

Duties and Responsibilities


1. Supervises and evaluates activities of Disease Control Surveillance Assistant.
2. Inspects and advises or pass judgement on meat and other foods, sanitary aspects of
business premises, stations, villages and towns and send samples for analysis and take
appropriate action on the analysed results including preservation, storage and disposal.
3. Participate in health promotion activities and in efforts to identify, survey analyse action
and reports on common diseases in the community and evaluate action impact.
4. Participate in health centre team efforts to administer essential drugs, provide immediate
relief to people in distress and advice, encourage, counsel, evaluate and monitor changes
in behaviour which promote health in health centres, schools, villages and towns.
5. Recognise and refer family members affected by psychological and psychiatric problems
to health centres.
6. In collaboration with interested sectors recognise and report treatment of malnutrition and
promote community efforts to assure sufficient food intake.
7. Participate in local community events
8. Record data in relevant registers and instruments following the HMIS guidelines and
procedures, compile committees’ reports and report to the designated supervisor
9. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.
Academic qualifications
Applicants must be holders of the Malawi School Certificate of Education with fours
work experience as Disease Control Surveillance Assistant. Those with a certificate in
Environmental or Public Health Related field will have an added advantage.

JOB TITLE : DISEASE CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE ASSISTANT


GRADE : M
LOCATION: Mulanje District Council

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be holders of Malawi School Certificate of Education with


credit in English and any other two Science subjects and should be within
the age range of 25 - 35 years

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as a link between fixed district health services and the


community and works directly with village/community leaders, and other
volunteers in providing environmental and personal health services in
collaboration with medical assistant, health assistant and enrolled
community health nurses.
2. Conduct community assessments, village inspections, monitors
growth and reports disease outbreaks
3. Participate with others in providing immunizations, maintaining
equipment and improving the quality of water by protecting shallow
wells and chlorinating untreated waters.
4. Treating minor ailments and facilitates formation of Village Health
Committees (VHCs) and volunteers.
5. Supervise VHCs and volunteers and refers patients and suspects to
nearest health unit.
6. Records data in relevant registers and instruments using HMIS
guidelines disseminate to respective village health committees and
report to the designated supervisor.
7. Prepares monthly work plans.
8. Provides feedback to the community.
9. Any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time.

TITLE: Senior Head Hospital Attendant


Grade: HN
Location: Mulanje District Council
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Monitor hospital attendants
2. Supervising hospital attendants
3. Bed making every morning and bed tidying in the afternoon
4. Damp dusting in all lockers, beds, screens, windows and other ward accessories
5. Moping of ward floor every morning, afternoon and whenever the floor is tidy
6. Scrubbing of toilets every morning and afternoon of patients’ meals
7. Help with the safe keeping of government property
8. Taking patients to X-ray, Laboratory, theatre etc.
9. Gives Health Education to patients and guardians
10. Assist in preparation of last office
11. Cleaning windows and remove of cobwebs every afternoon
12. Decontaminating and sluicing
13. Scrubbing of wards once every week
14. Help with preparing gauze and cotton wool
15. Responsible for taking and serving of patients’ meals
16. Monitor hospital attendants
17. Supervising hospital attendants
18. Any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualification
Applicants must be holders of the Junior Certificate of Education and should be serving officers
as Head Hospital Attendants (Grade HO) with at least four years of work experience and those
with MSCE will have an added advantage.

1. Monitor hospital attendants
2. Supervising hospital attendants

2. Ensure that hedges, flowers and grasses are properly slashed

5. Any other duties assigned from time to time

Academic Qualifications
Applicants must be holders of the Junior Certificate of Education with two years’ work
experience.
