Define and explain why it is necessary to apply these elements in dancing with your own

idea. Give at least 3 sentences each word. (5pts each)

1. Time- Time in dance is very important because in dancing we have what we called the
choreographer who will teach us to dance, and Choreographers must make
decisions about timing. It is also the connection between two movements

2. Space- Space is a compositional element that refers to how the dancer moves
through and interacts with the physical world. the space we move through as
we dance. Several aspects must be considered within this compositional
element: the precise direction of movement (sideways, forwards, backward,
laterally), along with assumed movement in gestures or placement.

3. Body – In dancing, we typically move our bodies. Furthermore, dancers use their
bodies to communicate their emotions and intentions. These movements are
used to create dances that have a beginning, middle, and end.

4. Energy – In dancing, we necessarily need to apply Energy because Energy represents

the quality of the movement. It has something to do with the effort. In
addition, when energy is released in a controlled, restrained manner it is
bound to flow; when energy is released freely the movement is free to flow.
Therefore, Energy is essential in bringing the inner expression of emotion to
the stage.

5. Action – Action is also necessary for dancing because it is the movement. movements
that transport you from one location to another, for example, walk, run, skip,
hop, jump, slide, leap, gallop, and other similar expressions. There is also the
inverse of this. And these are the movements that do not transport you from
one location to another, such as bend, stretch, twist, reach, swing, sway, and
many others.

6-10. Differentiate between secular and sacred dance.

- For me, the word sacred has something to do with religiousness, connection to
GOD, prayers, or motivations. sacred dance has a wide range of interpretations. It
can be related to scriptural reading or lyrics and might be used to elucidate a
certain passage. while in general terms secular dance might have had a lighter
tone in many cases, connected to its functions of shared celebration and
enjoyment. However, reflective, sometimes sad, individual secular songs are also
known.
11-15. Why dance is an ART? (3 sentences) at least

For me, Dance is an art because ART is closely associated with emotions and mood, it
provides a physical representation and visual aid to evoke a feeling, promote talking
points, and trigger thought and consideration along with enjoyment and beauty. With
that, Dance evokes the same reactions. Through the movements of the body, dance can
showcase emotions and entice the viewer into sharing the emotional journey the dancer
is telling.

Dance meets the requirements for classification as a form of art through facial expressions,
gestures, the steps taken, the music associated with it, and the way it engages with the
viewer. You don't have to understand it to appreciate its beauty and enjoy it, as you do
with all types of art. If anything, it is this subjectivity that makes art appealing to people
of all ages and walks of life. Moreover, dance tells a story where it portrays a message
through dancing.

Therefore, Dance is no exception. Dance can be interpreted in a variety of ways due to the
numerous ways to position, angle, gesture, and express yourself. Dance is an art form that
requires nothing more than a person's body and is one of the purest forms of self-
expression. Dance is one of the few forms of art that is popular all over the world because
it allows people to share their passion, desire, and expression. It makes no difference
whether you have a foreign language or technical training. A story can be told by moving
the body that anyone can appreciate.
