Topic: Elements of Prose
Objectives: Students will be able to
1) Name and list the types of characters in Prose
2) Distinguish between major and minor characters
3) Identify and describe characters in the text “Raymond’s Run”
4) State which type of character each character in Raymond’s Run fall
under
Materials: Charts, flash cards, game on quizizz.com, students’ devices,
chalkboard chalk
Content: Refer to content as contained in unit plan
Prerequisite: Students are already familiar with the story and can define
the term ‘character’
Introduction: Ask students to say who they think are the important
characters in the story and give reasons why.
Transitional Statement: Today we will be looking at te types of characters
in Raymond’s Run
Development:
● Teacher will question students to elicit the importance of characters
in a story. Give feedback.
● Students brainstorm for the two types of characters and define them.
Teacher clarifies and explains giving examples.
● Question students to elicit the definitions of major characters named.
● Present the types of minor characters. Students match the term to
its meaning. Teaching clarifies.
● Students play game on quizizz.com to reinforce the learning of the
definitions
● After reinforcement, students are asked to list all the characters in
Raymond’s Run. Students also must classify the characters. Students
complete the table
