also the artists’ medium for expressing their feelings. Sometimes
moral values are hidden in the lyrics.

▪ Rhythm is used to create the mood of the song.

▪ Experiences sometimes told use figures of speech, e.g. ‘And

The structure of a song:

• Verse is the main part of a song that tells a story.

• Refrain/chorus is a part of the song that is repeated. The

rhythm of this part is distinct from the verse.

• Coda is a line that closes a song.
