*The paintings are more than images, they depicted the story of God’s love for His people.

*Images are powerful means of providing insights into realities.

*Our image helps people know and understand us.

*Images make use of comparison to help us understand and appreciate better the nature of the Church.

1. The Church as Body of Christ

*One Body, Many Parts ( 1 Cor 12:12, 14; 27)

*St. Paul emphasizes 2 important aspects of the Church’s reality: DIVERSITY and UNITY

DIVERSITY – there are different roles and functions in the Church

UNITY- each member depend on the other; each member cannot build the Church by

himself/herself.

- We have one mission; to spread the and build the Church-the Body of Christ.
- There is ONE spirit that breathes life into the Church
- The Church is united by Christ- the head of the Church. We are the body of the Church

*The Church as Body of Christ helps us to appreciate 2 important aspects in the nature of the Church-
unity and diversity.

2. KINGDOM OF GOD
- The Church is the seed, the beginning of God’s kingdom on Earth
It represents the coming of the kingdom, the kingdom in process

3. PEOPLEOFGOD
- The Church as people of God is prefigured in the covenant between God and Israel and
fulfilled in the new and perfect covenant established by Christ.

4. TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT


- The Holy spirit makes the Church the temple of the living God.
- He is the principle of every vital and truly saving action of the Church
