"have you ever been to anse chastnet?" michael asked his friend tamara.

"no" she replied. that's why i'm so excited about this trip!"

     tamara had recently moved to reunion, choiseul from the cap estate,
gros islet in the north of the island. although her family had traveled a lot,
they had never been to the tightly snuggled hotel a little way from the town
of soufriere. her grade seven class was planning a weekend trip there. they
would leave friday afternoon, and return early monday monrning. since they
were going in september, they expected the late summer weather to be just
perfect, not too hot, and not too cold.

     tamara was also excited about staying overnight for a couple of nights in
a fancy hotel on anse chastnet beach. each room had three students and
one adult chaperone. some of the chaperones were so popular that a
drawing was necessary. tamara had lucked out! she was going to stay in
mrs. funtoria's room. everyone loved her and called her "mrs. fun" for short.
she was of spanish descent and very pretty.

     mrs. fun had been teaching at southern heights academy for 15 years.
each year, she became more and more popular and she was eventually
offered the job as principal. she tried that for two years, but ended up
missing the classroom so much that she returned to it this year. although
tamara only had her for two classes, she was growing to love her.
