THE TOWER

OF LONDON
The tower of London is the main fortress
of the British Capital, it's located on the banks of th Thames. I It was
constructed at the end of the XI century. It had been modified twice and it is in
really good conditions.
The London's tower's whole is 4.9 hectares; it formas an irregular hexagon with a
rectangle wich controls the entrance. The whole citadel is surronded by a huge ditc
wich has ben droined with a rampart, 2nd rampart equipped with towers. Inside we
can found the principal building, the dungeon, the Waterloo, a museum, the royal
chapel, etc.

Protections
The tower contains 2 concentric walls and a lot of protection towers.
On the north side the outer rampart has only two towers (20m in diameter, about), one

at each angle.Called as Legge Mounts (in the West) and Brass (in the East).It has no
towers on the west side except the Byward tower, the one that controls the entrance,
and the middle towers which are in front of the entrance. The south side faces the
Thames, protected by the St. Thomas Tower and two towers more , the Cradle Tower and
the Well Tower. And at the west side the only protection is the Develin tower.
