COMPARISONS (So sánh)

I. So sánh bằng
S1 + be + as + ADJ + as + S2
S1 + be + not + as / so + ADJ + as + S2
Ex: Tom is as tall as Hoa
Hoa is not as / so tall as Tom

S1 + be + the same N + as S2
Ex: Tom is the same height as Hoa
Chú ý: Adj  N
1. Old / young  age
2. Long / short  length
3. Wide / narrow  width
4. Deep/shallow  depth
II. So sánh hơn

III. So sánh nhất
S + be + the Adj_est / the most Adj
 Chú ý
1. Adj tận cùng là y, chuyển thành i + er/est (happy  happier/happiest)
2. Adj tận cùng là ow, er, le, et + er/est
Narrow – narrower – narrowest
Clever – cleverer – cleverest
Simple – simpler – simplest
Quiet – quieter – quietest
3. Tính từ bất quy tắc
Good – better – best
Bad – worse – worst
Many/much – more – most
Little – less – least
Far – farther/further – farthest/furthest
Old – older/elder – oldest/eldest
4. Nhấn mạnh so sánh hơn dùng much/far/a little/a lot/slightly/
Nhấn mạnh so sánh nhất dùng by far
5. So sánh 2 vật thì dùng so sánh hơn
So sánh 3 vật trở lên thì dùng so sánh nhất
Ex: Of two books, this book is more interesting than that.

VI. So sánh số lần: S1 be + số lần + as adj as S2
Ex: My hair is twice as long as hers
Chú ý: Trong so sánh hơn để tránh lặp lại danh từ số ít đứng trước dùng that, tránh
lặp lại danh từ số nhiều dùng those
