Changing Batteries

This short film reminds us of taking care of the elderly in our families and cherish the people who love
us. At the first part of the story, we can see that the old lady was alone in the house expecting for his
son to come home but all she gets was a robot from his son. We can see the disappointment in her face
knowing that her son can’t come visit her. At first the old lady is not happy to use the robot knowing
that it can’t fill the longing of her heart to be with her son. But eventually, she changes her attitude
towards the robot. She started to take care of the robot as his own son. The relationship between the
old lady and the robot reflects the lonely feeling of the lady and the very thought of her son, and
spreads the importance of spending time looking after the elderly.

The second part of the story shows how the old lady and the robot takes care to each other. How they
develop their relationship throughout the time. when the robot is out of power, the old lady will change
batteries for it. One day, the old lady sits wearily on her chair and closes her eyes. The robot keeps
putting batteries into her pocket, but her eyes never open again. The behavior of changing batteries tells
us that if we don’t cherish the love which we have, we cannot change anything after it’s gone.
