3 activities of Rizal with his family

1. At the age of three, Rizal began to take part in the family prayers. His family practiced
the Angelus prayer daily. By nightfall, his mother gathered all the children at the house
to pray to the Angelus.

2. The Rizal children were bound together by the ties of love and companionship. Their
parents taught them to love one another, to behave properly in front of elders, to be
truthful and religious, and to help one another.

3. After the night rosary of Rizal's family at the azotea (flat roof), the Rizal children
(including Jose) were told by the Aya (nurse maid) many fabulous stories about the
fairies, tales of buried treasure, and trees blooming with diamonds. One time, when
Jose did not like to take his supper, the Aya would threaten him that the Aswang, the
nuno, the tikbalang, or terribly bearded or turbaned Bombay would come to take him if
he would not eat his supper. The nocturnal walk in the town.
