Synopsis ep.

8
At the beginning, we can see Lawrence Hospital, where Dr. Philip Stewart works. He
is speaking to who Molly is his nurse's. Philip asks her for help as he needs her
special talent to settle scheduling problems. There is another tonsillectomy to be
fitted in another doctor's schedule. The patient to be operated on is Karl Herrera. He
has infected tonsils, so the operation should be performed as soon as possible.
Later that day, Philip is talking to the boy’s mother and the boy himself. The doctor
says they are to operate Karl on Friday. But Carl objects by saying that his birthday is
on Saturday. Philip says they can reschedule, but he doesn't think it's worth it. Mrs.
Herrera remarks they can celebrate it a bit later. But Carl insists that it won't be his
birthday. His mother explains to Karl that his health is much more important. But
Carl still doesn't want to have it, so Phillip asks Molly to try to convince him.
The nurse explains to the boy that they want to help and that the surgery should be
carried out as soon as possible. Carl remains her about his birthday. Molly promises
to come up with something.
The next day in the hospital, we see three more children waiting for the same
procedure. Molly is trying to amuse them. She offers to play charades. Betty and Tim
have played before. She invites Frank and Karl to watch them playing and join during
the game. She comes up with a film that she's going to show. Frank guesses the film,
and Betty knows the answer but does not manage to name it. Molly wonders whether
Karl did not join the game. He replies that this is a game for babies. Betty calls Carl a
sore loser. The nurse asks the children not to argue, but to save their voices.
Philip comes and wants to know what is happening. Carl refuses to play with the
other kids, saying he doesn't want to have the operation, and that he doesn't want to
be there at all. It's all because tomorrow is his birthday. He's angry that his mom and
Molly promised him a birthday surprises, but he won’t be able to celebrate it.
Friday night, at the same hospital. The children have had their tonsils out and all the
children’s throats hurt. Molly comes up to them and cheers them by offering some ice
cream for dinner. All patients choose the flavors and amount of ice cream.
The next morning, Molly comes to Karl who is feeling much better. She shows him
her surprise and invites a clown. The children like the performance. After that, Philip
and Carl’s Mother appear with balloons and ice cream. They're asking Carl what else
he'd like to do. He makes a sign that he wants to play charades.
