In pairs, read the two short conversations below:


Conversation
Alice: Simon, hurry up! The film is about to start.
A
Simon: I’ll come to you in a minute. I’m just brushing my hair. Isn’t George joining us?
Alice: No, he isn’t in town this week. He’s hiking in the mountains. Didn’t I tell you?
Simon: No, you didn’t. Do we have anything to eat?
Alice: There’s some food in the fridge but I think it is no longer fresh.
Simon: What about coffee?
Alice: No, we don’t have any coffee left.
Simon: Oh, well. Maybe I’ll call for a pizza.
Alice: Pizza sounds good. I’m eager for that!

Conversation

Use the phrasal verbs in your answers. Report your findings to the class.

definitions on the right. Try to discover their meaning from the context.
