Activity 1:

Review the current learning modality programs implemented by the


Department of Education on the new normal of education ecology and justify
thru concrete examples how teachers in these modalities become
implementers of learner-centered teaching.

Online Learning

In this learning modality, teachers can be implementers of learner-centered teaching


if they allow their students to decide how long will they meet through Zoom, Google meet,
Facebook room and other mediums. By allowing the learners to have control over their
learning process it is more likely they will find it easier to study and minimizing the time
would lessen the usage of data for those students who only use mobile phones.

Aside from allowing learners to control their learning process, teachers can also
contact their students individually or by giving activities. Be it written, drawn or any
medium where learners can express they had learned and guiding them how to review these
topics for the examinations.

This learning modality becomes learner-centered when professors/teachers exert


more effort in helping learners develop their skills, demonstrating them on what to do
orderly and systematically. Just like Mathematical calculations and scientific processes.

Giving activities where learner’s can examine their performance would also make this
modality learner-centered. And lastly, group works would be essential as well. Not only for
socialization but also helps learners learn from their fellow learners.

Modular Distance Learning

This learning modality is for learners who have financial difficulties and to learners
who live in the far corners of a region that does not have stable internet connection. Many
students fears of missing out or to be left by their former classmates who are financially
able to enrol in online class. That’s why this modality is created, to cater the learners who
are willing to study but are hindered financially.

Allowing learners to have control over their learning process would be a great help to
them. Such as, when will be the due date, what to answer and how to process those topics.
Teachers can also visit their learners if they are able and willing to do so, to check out,
guide or even comfort the learners in these troubling days. Giving them activities is also a
beneficial for the learners, so that they can examine themselves if they are doing well.
