a) Define the meaning of immunization (1 mark)
- Immunization is the action of making a person or animal immune
to infection typically by inoculations.

b) Discuss any two advantages of breast feeding (4 marks)


i. Breast milk is the healthiest food for the child: breast feeding provides
the baby with variety of health and developmental benefits.
ii. Breastfeeding is economical: breastfeeding can save you thousands of
dollars.

c) Identify and explain any four importance of immunization (20


marks)
 Vaccine promotes health: Unlike many other health interventions,
vaccine help healthy people to stay healthy, removing a major
obstacle to human development.

 Vaccines have expansive reach: Vaccine protect individuals,


communities and the entire population. For instance, eradication of
small pox is a case in point)

 Vaccines have rapid impact: The impact of most vaccines on


communities and population is almost immediate. For example,
between 2000 and 2008, vaccination reduced global deaths from
measles by 75 %. That is from 750 000 deaths to 164 000 death per
year (WHO, 2021).
 Vaccines save lives and costs: Recently, a panel of distinguished
economists has put expanded immunizations coverage for children
in fourth place on a list of 30 cost effective ways of advancing
global welfare (WHO, 2021).
