Let’s Go To The Finish Line Together

Cheering and screaming were heard at the stadium during the highly anticipated
Children's Olympics. 8 contestants, from different cultural backgrounds and with no experience
with sprinting, participated in the 100-meter sprint. All were assembled at the starting line. As
soon as the gunshot was heard, they all started to dash and giggle due to the adrenaline bought
by the possibility of winning. It was in the middle of the race that a young black girl stumbled.
The other seven heard the screech of the girl. One by one, they slowed down and went back to
help. One girl with chinky eyes bent down to see if there were any wounds present. When
wounds no were to be seen but the girl who stumbled still continued to cry, the chinky eyed girl
hugged her and said, “It’s okay to make a mistake. I hope this hug will make you feel better.”
This prompted the other contestants to hug the black girl, hoping she would feel better. As soon
as she finished wiping away her tears, all of the other contestants stood beside each other and
linked arms. They looked at each other with excitement and started to walk together to the finish
line. Everyone in the stadium stood and cheered as a few started crying out of the joy and
emotion felt in the situation.
