Unemployment Globally Employment is when an adult gets a job and starts working. But unemployment is real, and a very big problem. It is when adults can not get a job for either being un-skilled or coming from poor backgrounds. Many people are unemployed today, and it is much higher in recent years due to the Coronavirus outbreak in 2020. But besides Covid-19, many other reasons exist as to why more and more people are becoming jobless. Some common types are when workers move somewhere far, they have to find a new job. Other reasons are when a new worker after graduating are finding jobs, or when an old worker stops working for a period of time and then get back to trying to find a job. Another reason that people think that will be the main reason for unemployment is robots taking out jobs, but I personally disagree as robots can showcase us to a whole new genre of jobs like robot engineering or robot supervising. But the biggest reason is just the lack of job opportunities, like if people are not skilled enough or that naturally there is a scarce amount of jobs in your area. But youth unemployment is the worst as young workers are almost three times more likely to be jobless than older ones. Also, it will stop younger adults for earning but also scar them for the future as if they can get jobs or not. Research further confirms that youth employment in someone’s life can cause a wage penalty for up to 20 years. Employment in one’s early life can also “erode” the person’s skills and can negatively impact the level of their occupational attainment. But the most important thing of a young adult’s employment are the strong connections that are built while working, so losing that skillset is a huge downside. The current state of youth unemployment is really bad, over 6% of the world’s population is unemployed, and 23% of people earn less than 1.25USD per day. And if nothing improves, then many bad things can happen.
