Introduction

The title of article that I choose is A Health Care Plan for Colleges and it is wrote by Peter Orszag. Peter Orszag is an American economist who is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations . He was also the 37th Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Barack Obama. The article is wrote about a research was make to prove that the increasing of health care cost are harming the higher education.The writer wrote this article is to tell us that the public universities have not been able to stay competitive with private universities on salaries and spending on their students.

Body of the Review

The writer want to tell us that the states take the money from education to pay for the Medicaid during economic downturns.So according to the fact that have made,since 2008 at least 43 states have cut down the finance for public colleges an d universities.Based on my view of point, I think that this is wrong because the finance for education also use for their purposes and if the state cut down the finance,they are unable to function well and this will also affect the study of students in col leges or universities.In contrast, the state must restore the money for education once the economy is recovers. The evidence has support the point that public colleges or universities now is going down the gradient.As the survey make in the year 1987,there were eight public schools among the top 25 in the college rankings.This year there were only three and none in the top 20.Based on the research,in year 1987,the top -ranked public university is University of California came in fifth.By 2010,this university was still topranked but it had fallen to 22 nd overall. The viewpoint of this article is factual.This is because in this article,there are many fact that done by many agency prove that nowadays public universities is down the gradient and also some of the reason based on the research obtained.Another research also prove that nowadays the governments general support for Medicaid is 50 percent greater than support for higher education. The writers opinion on this article is he feel that government should take a better handle on rising the health care costs.This is because based on his opinion,health care costs is not just an abstraction central to addressing our long term fiscal gap,it is also the central to raise workers take home pay.Increasing costs for health care costs will holding down the wages.

Conclusion

As the conclusion,the writer hopes that the government do their job by taking a good control on the health care costs so t hat the public colleges and universities can function well in the future.Another point is the state also must restore the money that used to cover the Medicaid when the economic downturns.Furthermore,the state mustnt cut the finance for public colleges an d universities or increased the tuition.For my own opinion,I think that the writers hope can be achieve if the government and state do their job wisely so that many public colleges and universities can make in into the top 20 in the college rankings again in the future time.
