We are living in a world full of material things and we are given a wide array of products to purchase the

things that we want in our lives. Almost everywhere Including the digital space we can find promotions
of product purchase product advertisements or suggestive of making us feel better and look good and
part of our self wants to have those products but remember what makes us one to have those products
are connected of who we are what we went to have an already possess is related to our self.

Now let us all understand what we will talk about today. Presenting to but or not to but, that is the
question.

So as I said earlier we are actually living in a world that's full of material things that we want to have in a
very easy way because nowadays we have our delivery systems on hand already. in our modern
technology we have our shopping applications on our phones ,in our gadgets. so it is easy for us to buy
those material things but buying those material things is not just for the sake of having them or buying
them.

Because according to Russell Belk’s we regard our possessions as part of ourselves we are what we have
and what we possess.

So we buy those material things not plainly because we want to buy them for the sake of having them,
we buy those material things because it's actually part of our self expression, it its part of our self
identity and the things that you want to have, and already have, is reflecting defining and describing of
who you are and it is connected to yourself.

People of any and all variety let's talk about the material self.

3RD COMPONENT OF MATERIAL SELF

IMMEDIATE FAMILY- OUR PARENTS AND OUR SIBLINGS HAVE A HUGE PART IN OUR DEFINITION OF OUR
SELFHOOD,BECAUSE WHAT THEY DO BECOMES AFFECTS US.

For for example, if an immediate family members dies, part of our self diesto when their lives are in
success we feel their victories in their failures we put into shame or guilt and if there on a disadvantage
situation we have our urgent urge help like a voluntary instinct to save oneself from danger that's why
our immediate family is cscted and related to our material self.

4th component of material self is

HOME- Home has always been a gathering place a shelter a sanctuary providing escape from the
busyness and intrusivenests of the world. our home is a loving ,a supportive environment in which to
grow up and discovers oneself. why is home so important for us then, because for better or for worse by
presence or absence it is a crucial point of reference in memory feeling and oneself, so for me our home
is the extension of our self because in it we can directly connect our self.

So as we grow older , putting importance to material possession decreases however material possession
gains a higher value in our life and if we use material possession to find happiness associate this things
with significant events, accomplishments and the people in our lives and the material possessions that
we barely have tell something about who we are our self-concept our past our believes and our future.

SPIRITUAL SELF

SO ACCORDING TO WILLIAM JAMES, WHEN WE TALK ABOUT SPIRITUAL SELF IT IS THE MOST INTIMATE
AND SUBJECTIVE OF OURSELF WHY IS IT SUBJECTIVE BECAUSE IT IS OUR OWN PERSONAL REFLECTION
ABOUT RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND PRACTICES AND ACCORDING TO HIM, EVERYTIME WE TALK ABOUT
SPIRITUAL SELF GIVEN AS A GREATER SATISFACTION BECAUSE WE ARE HAPPY OF OUR OWN RELIGIOUS
BELIEFS AND PRACTICES AND THE MAIN REASON WHY WE HAVE DIFFERENCES IN RELIGIOUS BELIEFS
BECAUSE WE HAVE OUR OWN DEFINITION OF OUR SPIRITUAL SELF THE DEFINITION OF OUR SPIRITUAL
SELF LIES WITHIN US AND NOTHING ELSE SO THAT’S WHY WE CANNOT BLAME OTHERS IF THEY ARE
DOING A CERTAIN RELIGIOUS PRACTICES ABOUT THE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS..

When we experience the feeling of moral senses and conscience if given as the idea of knowing what is
really right or wrong, knowing our spiritual self we only do things when we think it is right and when it is
not with the note do something that is against our own religious beliefs and practices and also when we
are seeking for the meaning of life you also dealing of our own spiritual self, since we are talking about
spiritual self let's first define religion and ritual.

RITUAL-

IT IS A RELIGIOUS OR A SOLEMN CEREMONY CONSISTING OF A SERIES OF ACTIONS PERFORMED

ACCORDING TO A PRESCRIBED ORDER OR TO A CERTAIN RELIGIOUS PRACTICES.

CHRISTIANITY –

IS FOCUS ON THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF JESUS CHRIST WHO CHRISTIANS BELIEVE TO BE SON OF GOD

SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION IS AN ACT OF REMEMBRANCE OF JESUS CHRIST SACRIFICIAL LOVE
JESUS CHRIST TEACHING IN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE THAT IS EXPRESSED IN LOVING THE POOR AND

ISLAM

So they believe in the unity and universality of god, Muslims also have a strong sense of community or
Ummah and an awareness of their solidarity with all Muslims worldwide. Islam’s, means willing
submission to god.

Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last on the final prophet sent by god.

Five pillars of Islam

SHAHADAH

On the first pillar is “shahada” or faith. The most basic requirement of being Muslim, is publicly state the
word “there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger” in Arabic. And this must be said with
sincerity and without any reservation .this testament is the foundation of all other beliefs and practices
in Islam. To become Muslim and a non-Muslim must repeat the shahada three times in the presence of
witnesses.

SALAH

Now the not pillar of islam is salah or prayer. Salah refers to the obligatory prayer that are done five
times a day by muslims. And I want to break down what those five prayers are, and they are, Salat-fajr,
Salat-al-zuhr, salat al-‘asr, salat al-Mahdi, and salat al-‘isha. So this prayer serve as public evidence for a
believers devotion to islam. The prayers are usually led by someone who knows the quran very well and
is generally chosen by the congregation but this does not mean that need to attend the mosque to pray.

Muslims can pray anywhere and these prayers are done at dawn as well as mid day and there’s one at
late afternoon, one at sunset and another at night fall. And one thing to know that this prayers contain
verses from the quran and are said in arabic and these prayers are to be made in the direction of mecca
saudi arabia.

ZAKAT

Now the third pillar of islam is zakat and that refers to charity or charitable giving. Every muslim is
obligated to pay a potion of his or her wealth for the benefit of the poor and needy. The amount is
generally said 2.5% of the value of all liquid assets and an income generating properties of an individual
and is used to feed the poor or encourage the conversion to islam as well as support those devoting
themselves to the work of islam and any other suitable cause.
SAWN

Now, if you’re not muslim, you’re probably seen or heard of one of your muslims friends fasting .well
that is one of the pillars and that one is called sawn.

During the holy month of ramadan muslims are expected to fast from dawn up until sundown. Theyre
aren’t to eat any food or drink or any sexual relationships with their spouse or significant other. Now the
sick the elder and woman who are menstruating or even pregnant and nursing are allowed to break the
fast provided that they make up equal number of days later on in the year. Although fasting is beneficial
for the health, qoran advocates fasting is a method of self-purification and self restraint, to seek
nearness to allah, be patient as well as to learn hardships faced by the less fortunate.

HAJJ

And the last pillar is probably the most epic and exciting one well atleast to me when I was learning
about this

And that pillar is hajj or the pilgrimage. The pilgrimage to mecca saudi arabia is an obligation for those
who are physically and financially able to do so. Regardless there are over two million people who go to
mecca each and every single layer from all around the world. The annual hajj begins the 12 th month of
the islamic lunar. Now the rights of hajj include going around the kaaba seven times and going seven
times between the hills of safa and marwa as did hagar who had give birth to the prophet abraham son,
ishmel during her search for water.

achieve in their life, and the goal and ,dreams you want to fulfill becomes your meaning of life.
Therefore, the meaning of life of every individual is unique.

COURAGE TO FACE DIFFICULTIES

A meaningful life ,is a life with suffering, and suffering is an inevitable part of life. To find meaning of life
is to recognize pain, suffering and death as part of our lives. And have courage to face these life
difficulties.

LOVE
Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of a person’s personality.
Essentially, it is impossible for us to fully understand and appreciate that person without loving and
knowing that person. According to him, when a person loves another person, he or she Can see the
meaning and the potential of that person. When loving someone, one has the opportunity to help that
person, to find his/her purpose in life.
