1 Problem 1

Update your MATLAB Script from Assignment 1 to solve 3D trusses. Use the script to solve the truss

shown in Figure 1.

• Member nodal coordinates and connectivity matrix are provided in the Excel File. The MATLAB

script should automatically read this information and provide output in the form of member forces

and nodal displacements, in a separate file

• Boundary conditions are as drawn. There are pin supports at nodes 1, 2, 3 and 4

• Loads are applied at nodes 5 and 6. Load magnitudes are 45 kN each, acting in the negative Z

direction

• Assume E = 200 GPa and A = 4265 mm2

• Plot the deformed shape and axial force diagrams using MATLAB
