The city of Shanghai was slowly falling asleep when suddenly all the

electronic devices vibrated in the most unexpected manner. The

vibration triggered the attention of many, including the cyber security
administrators and a young yet determined individual named Thomas.
The world was in danger….
Thomas woke up to the hopeful yet demanding voices of individuals
on the Tian’ai road. For Thomas, the voices filled with ignorance and his
intelligence and mastery in the study of cyber security made him
uncomfortable. The unease brought back the memories of the night
before when he had been spending his last bits of energy trying to “fix”
things till he dozed out.
Thomas was knowledgeable enough but his starting point was
unclear. What is he looking for? How is he going to find information? Will
he be in trouble with the cops for identity theft? Questions flooded his
head but something inside him convinced it was his duty. His
intuitiveness suggested that the only place for such massive corruption to
take place was the Shanghai world financial centre. His mission was
unknown but his goal was fixed.
The Shanghai world financial centre stood in the middle of the city
like a mighty giant holding its pride but it had no clue that its mighty may
crash down in front of a sixteen-year-old after some hours, days or weeks
and maybe months. Thomas made his way to the visualizing centre
where the supercomputers containing thousands of processors stood in
the bare room.
Time flew rapidly and after five hours of hard work and energy, Thomas
felt as if the process was impossible. How could Thomas hack one of the
greatest databases in the world? Had he put him in more trouble? He
wanted to give up, but no, the memories of the voices of the demanding
people and his dream to protect the world from cyber-attacks,
flashbacked through his mind. After another five hours of successful
hacking Thomas was able to access the database and after another seven
hours, he was the proprietor of the internet protocol of the anonymous
hacker who had caused the chaos.
Pleasure, satisfaction and joy filled him. A sixteen-year-old did hack
the most powerful supercomputer and tracked down a cyber-criminal.
His actions were unbelievable, and he was unable to trust his ability.
“A sixteen-year-old had hacked the database of the Shanghai world
financial centre and tracked down the vicious cyber-criminal” The
headlines of the news read. The words ran an unseen electrical shock
inside him. How had they known? Have they hacked him? His phone
rang, and a man spoke, “Thomas you are invited to work for the National
cyber security centre”.
