The block diagram of a communication system will have five blocks, including the information source,
transmitter, channel, receiver and destination blocks. A communication system's main function, as
previously indicated, is to convey intelligence signals from a source to a destination located some
distance from the source. A communication system's block diagram is shown in Figure 1. There are three
fundamental parts to this system: a transmitter, a channel, and a receiver. Transmitter, Channel, and
Receiver are a communication system's three key components. The transmitter changes the message
signal generated by the information source into a format that can be transmitted.
