CIA I: Economic History of

India from 1750 - 1947

Why do we study Economic History?
What is History?
History, as defined in the Oxford dictionary, is the study of past events. It may relate to
anything that has occurred before. For example, sometimes, doctors refer to the medical
history of a patient, i.e., the patient’s previous ailments or any major operations or even the
unreported problems of the past. These events of the past - History, hold key significance in
various aspects.

What is Economics?
“Economics is the science which studies human behaviour as a relationship between ends
and scarce means which have alternative uses,” as given by Lionel Robbins. It is a study of
how humans make decisions in everyday life, beit at the household level or for large
nations. It is a vast subject with key significance in multiple disciplines. So then, what is
Economic History?

From India's Point of View?

[I haven't done any research on this]

My idea was to make the script like a discussion of 3-4 on a podcast with a PPT that goes along with
it, combined into a video... but since I am not in Christ anymore, feel free to do it however you like.
