Unit 4 Key Terms

- Boundaries: Line that determines the maximum that we must consider in


order not to exceed it.
- Coping Strategies: Ways to react to difficult situations. Development of an
action plan.
- Imagery: Passive concentration of shares. It is a relaxation technique.
- Personal Space: Space that surrounds a person that allows him to interact
comfortably and appropriately.
- Priority: Perform an action first, according to its importance.
- Procrastination: Postpone important activities.
- Relaxation: Process to control stress/reduce its effects; such as breathing
deeply and calmly, or performing exercises to calm the muscles.
- Stress: It is a response caused by a situation, which can cause irritation, worry
or give the feeling of being sick.
- Care Plan: It is a written plan, developed to address the person's needs and
goals of care (provided by DCW and approved by the supervisor).
- Charting: Representation of data through visual resources.
- Documentation: Means of clarification and evaluation, where a record of
actions, reactions and observations is established.
- Progress Report: Identification of a person's changes, considering what is
considered "normal".
- Signs: Signs or warnings that can be observed about what the patient can feel
or experience.
- Reporting: Verbal communication of observations or actions taken to the team
or supervisor, usually in person or by telephone.
- Support Plan: Report on the situation of the person and the environment in
which it is established.
- Symptom: Sign or indicative of what a person can experience.
