RRL:

Anxiety is fairly common in school students, and if left untreated, mild anxiety can worsen over time
and seriously impact a person’s quality of life and wellbeing. Apurillo (2015) asserts that there is a link
between students’ anxiety and their academic performance in key subjects such as English, Science, and
Mathematics. And many students are particularly concerned about math subjects (Collins, 2011), as
evidenced by National Achievement Test (NAT) mathematics results from 2014 to 2016 (DepEd, 2017).
Where students’ performance at both the elementary and secondary levels has been slightly poor for
three years in a row, this could be due to the students’ anxiety during the exam.
