Motivation is an internal process.

Whether we define it as a drive or a need,

motivation is a condition inside us that desires a change, either in the self or the
environment. When we tap into this well of energy, motivation endows the person
with the drive and direction needed to engage with the environment in an adaptive,
open-ended, and problem-solving sort of way (Reeve, 2015).

The presence of motivation can also be inferred from the levels of persistence and
decisiveness in choosing one goal over another, which taken together make for a
high probability of occurrence (Atkinson & Birch, 1970; 1978; Bolles, 1975; Ekman &
Friesen, 1975).
Reading is a complex interaction between the text and the reader (Hughes, 2007). It means that reading
is an activity to read a text. According to Cline, Johnstone, & King (2006) reading is decoding and
understanding written text. Here, the students will get a text from the teacher and they will read the
text and try to understand what is the text tell about. Based on Smahillah (2014) reading is a complex
activity that involves both perception and thought.

An introvert is a person who is high in introversion, a personality trait

characterized by a tendency to be energized by alone time rather than
socializing.

"Extroverts gain energy from social interaction, while introverts expend energy

in social situations," explains relationship therapist Ken Page, LCSW.2019

an introvert is a person whose interest is generally directed inward toward his

own feelings and thoughts, in contrast to an extravert, whose attention is
directed toward other people and the outside world Carl Jung.2022

The use of methods that are too monotonous and less varied will affect student learning outcomes.
Conversely, when a teacher uses a varied and fun method, it is able to develop students' knowledge
optimally. Cahyati Khasani 2020

According to Richards (2002:255), vocabulary is the core component of language proficiency and
provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, read, and write. Jackson and Amvela
(2000:11) say that the terms of vocabulary, lexis, and lexicon are synonymous. Vocabulary is one of the
language components that can affect macro skills. Some definition of vocabulary is proposed by some
experts. Nunan (1999: 101) states that vocabulary is a list of target language words. Furthermore,
Jackson and Amvela (2000: 11) say that the terms vocabulary, lexis, and lexicon are synonymous. In
addition, Richards and Schmidt (2002: 580) state that vocabulary is a set of lexeme, including single
words, compound words, and idioms. Vocabulary is the total number of words in a language; all the
words known to a person or used in a particular book, subject, etc; a list of words with their meaning,
especially one that accompanies a textbook (Hornby, 8 1995: 1331). Those definitions show that
vocabulary is the first element that the English learners should learn in order to master English well
besides the other English components and skills.

According to Sudjana (2009), the teaching method is a way that teachers use in interaction with
students during the lesson

student’s achievements tend so decrease on all cognitive aspects that student’s ability need to be
increased, particularly reasoning aspect by teaching students to develope higher order thinking (Efendi,
2011: 393).

According to Heong, et al(2011) higher order thinking is using the thinking widely to find new challenge.
Higher order thinking demands someone to apply new information or knowledge that he has got and
manipulates the information to reach possibility of answer in new situation

Brookhart (2010:5) states that higher-order thinking conceived of as the top end of the Bloom’s
cognitive taxonomy
