DEEP FAKES

Deep Fakes are rampant in today’s generation as we are in a state of technological

evolution. According to insider, the term “deepfake” comes from underlying technology “deep
learning”, which is a form of AI. Deep learning algorithms, which teach themselves how to solve
problems when given large sets of data, are used to swap faces in the video and digital content
to make realistic-looking fake media.
It uses a form of artificial intelligence. It could be an image, video, speech, or any for as
long as it typically represents a human subject that is being altered to deceive someone with a
false identity of a person that looks credible and realistic; this could also be known as the face-
swapping technique.
Deep fakes are harmful, especially the children that are exposed to any social media
platform, thus using it sometimes without digital wellbeing and parental controls. In fact, one
of the first few apps to fully popularize and democratize deep fakes and Al-generated face
editing on smartphones is FaceApp. By just uploading your photo, you may view how you will
appear when you are older, fake a grin, and more.
Furthermore, despite the infamous ramification of deep fakes, it has somehow positive
applications such as accessibility, education, art, autonomy and expression, amplification of
the message and its reach, digital reconstruction and public safety, and innovation.
To wrap it all up, the chance to improve our lives with deep fakes is great. Artificial
intelligence-produced synthetic media can be a potent enabler. No matter what their limits,
deep fakes have the power to open doors for everyone. The risk of exploitation, however,
increases as synthetic media technology becomes more generally accessible. Deep fakes have
the power to misrepresent people, create a false proof, and deceive the general public. It
might make people less trusting in democratic institutions. Deep fakes will be a fantastic tool
to use with more advancements and better regulations governing them.
