                              Unit 6 Giving a presentation Empower C1_October 2021

ENGLISH PROJECT: ORGANISING A PRESENTATION (APPLYING FOR A GRANT)

TASK (4 points): Your school has applied for a grant and to secure it, you need to prepare an oral
presentation in groups to the Funding Body’s Director. The presentation must include a ppt showing details
about:

• What kind of grant is required (arts, sports, technology, environmental)

• How much money is needed (graphs, charts)
• Two or more specific things your school will spend the grant on
• The impact the grant will have on the school and its students.

LANGUAGE FOCUS (Grammar and vocabulary): (4 points)

• Organising a presentation (Useful language, Everyday English)

• Simple and continuous verbs
• Participle clauses
• Adjectives describing images; emotions
•

PERFORMANCE (2 points):

• Pronunciation, intonation and stress

• Organisation, creativity, enthusiasm

How long must the presentation be? 8-10 minutes. Make sure you all do the same amount of talking and
use the appropriate language when giving and taking turns in your presentations.

When do we need to have the presentation ready? Presentations will start on Friday 8th November.

Remember, a typed copy of the script must be submitted the day of the presentation.
