ACCEPTING A ROLE

Write a few conversation openers. In pairs, take turns to read


out your openers. Yours partner has to respond in a convincing
way 

Example:

Student A: I didn’t know you could knit!

Student B: spontaneously
(knitting) Oh, well, it’s just a scarf. Nothing complicated…

Student B
1. I can see you’ve started smoking again?
2. You won’t believe it – I’ve won the “Mam talent” contest!
3. Hands off me! Why are you trying to kiss me?
4. I didn’t know you spent 10 years in China!
5 Why is everybody in the town talking only about you?
