Let’s Create an Agamograph!

My Agamopgraph
An Agamograph is a type of art form created by drawings/images
that change from different angles. This type of art was created by
Yaacov Agam, a well-known artist for using this technique to create
an optical illusion and kinetic art.

Here are a few examples of Yaacov Agam’s work:

Materials:

- 2 templates
- Markers, color pencils
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Pre-folded archodeon paper
- Cardboard for stand
Drawing Theme:
-Open/ended – Must be Related and be the Opposite
Example:
- Sun and Moon
- Happy Face and Sad Face
- Car and Bicycle
- Donut and Ice cream

Step 1
-Create/make 2 drawings – One drawing on each template. It is
important to keep your paper positioned with the strips VERTICALLY
or UP and DOWN: See image below. You can use markers and/or color
pencils you would like.
You can draw whatever you would like, but your drawings should
be the OPPOSITE of one another. Here is one example: A dog and a
cat.

Step 2:

- Once you have finished with your two drawings, you will need
to cut the first strip off of your drawing #1 and glue it down to
a piece of paper, then you will need to cut the first strip off of
drawing #2 and glue it right next to the strip you just glued.
Repeat the process, cutting one strip at a time from your
drawing #1 and drawing #2.

Step 3:

- Carefully fold your paper back and forth like an accordion or

making a paper fan. Once it is all folded, spread out the folds
until you are satisfied with the space. The front may look
funny, but if you move from one angle to another you should
see one whole drawing! Two drawings in one. You have just
created your Agamograph!
