 Critique Paper
The article entitled “Of Studies”, by Francis bacon, is considered a Renaissance man. He worked
as a lawyer and scientist throughout his life. The article emphasizes the importance of
knowledge, open-mindedness, and reading skills. Without books, there will be no source of
information that enlighten us, and make improvement in man’s life. Being alive not just sitting
in “sulok” around, or walking in a crowded place. Hence, being alive wanting to know more. The
main point is that there will always be new knowledge or discoveries that can be obtained in
Reading and writing.

The article is in formal type that show intellectual discussion that helps the reader to strengthen
there own arguments and improve there ability to effectively communicate differences of
opinion. The article used compare and contrast that usually shows similarity and differences of
the thing included and focused to help the reader improve comprehension by knowing the
important details, like in the article “For natural abilities are like plants, that need pruning, by
study”. The article used illustration that explains general statement by means of more specific
examples, it’s allowing the reader to analyze what they are reading, Like it said in the article
“Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability”.

Aside from that, the article used archaic words that can confused the reader what is it, probably
the archaic word are words that are no longer used in contemporary society. Like it said in the
article “Nay, there is no stond or impediment in the wit, but may be wrought out by fit studies”.
The article used latin phrases that makes the reader unfamiliar to the words, like it said in the
article Abeunt studia in mores.

Studying bring us joy, gives a feeling of closure to a work, enchances our thinking, speaking and
writing ability, and adds charm to our personality. Don’t stop learning because there is a lot of
things to discover to manipulate our curiosity and also always be a open minded person.
Studying can help us to relax and sharpen our wits and also the significance of the article is
knowledge improves experience and experience improves knowledge.
