Growing up, my parents always taught me to socialize well with other people, that every time I am
with them, they must be comfortable around me based on the behavior that I show. Up until now, I still
care so much for other people that sometimes I give to much and leave a little for myself. During my
junior high school days until now, I still have a circle of friends where we are still connected with each
other even we are apart and in different schools. The circle of friends that I am into are the kind of
friends that will help me in times of need and in lowest days. I value friends so much because for sure
without them my social life will not be as happy as I am today. With this, I consider myself as a
collectivist. Based on the meaning of collectivist, “Collectivism refers to the extent that we value our duty
to groups to which we belong, and to group harmony. Highly collectivist people define themselves by
their group membership and value harmonious relationships within those groups.” , I do so am a
collectivist because I cherish and value my group of friends. Like me, a lot of Filipinos are also a
collectivist because I believe that Filipinos values people and care other that themselves.
