NBK has specialized in food and commodity exports since its establishment in 1890.
NBK now focuses on distributing automobiles, machines and generators as well as
implementing international development projects
such as in the Pacific Islands, Asia, Caribbean and Africa.

FOOD AND COMMODITY


We have exported Japanese food overseas for over a
century. Food exports are at the core of our business
and have been since NBK’s establishment. Our vast
product portfolio is wider than Japanese food. We
also exports machinery and electrical equipment.
Serving as an export sales agent to the Pacific region,
NBK is striving to enhance our service, as well as
improve quality and expand our sales.

AUTOMOBILE
We have started business as an official exporting
dealer of Japanese automobile manufacturers 50
years ago. Throughout our business, we not only aim
to enhance the value of automobile manufactures but
also grow close together with the Pacific Islands. Our
business is currently expanding from the Pacific
Islands to the Asian regions.
GLOBAL PROJECT
We lead on Official Development Assistance
(ODA) projects. This includes working from
the initial stage of project design, to coordi-
nation on to implementation and providing
technical supports after completion.
We also supply a variety of consumer goods
and industrial products upon requests from
local governments as well as customers.
Our business aims to play an integral part in
promoting social and economic development
all over the world.

HISTORY
1890 Beginning Departure of ship “Tenyu-Maru” from Japan to the South Pacific Islands.

1893 Establishment Business corporative in Wakayama Prefecture opened. (Predecessor of NBK)

1894 Established NBK Hioki & Co., Ltd.

1908 Formed as NBK and opened a number of branch offices in the South Pacific Islands.

1942 Merged with Nanyo Kohatsu Co., Ltd.

After stabilising multiple businesses, NBK developed into a regional-based general business firm.

1945 Nanyo Kohatsu Co., Ltd. dissolved by the General Headquarters of Occupation Force after

the end of World War I I .

1946 Restart Restarted business by Mr. Tokuichi Kuribayashi as the Trade Department of the Tokyo branch office

              at Kuribayashi & Co., Ltd.

1950 Separated from Kuribayashi & Co., Ltd. and nominated Mr.Tokuichi Kuribayashi as Mr. Kuribayashi Tokuichi

              Chairman and Mr. Norimitsu Kuribayashi as President.

1963 Became the first trader in Japan to acquire a trade permit to the Pacific Islands.

1977 Began undertaking Japan’s non-project grant aid in the Oceania region.

1983 Mr. Tokugoro Kuribayashi officially appointed by the Japanese Emperor as the first

              honorary consulate general of Kiribati.

1989 With the approval of Queen Elizabeth I I (Queen of Great Britain & Nothern Ireland and the Commonwealth),

              Mr. Tokugoro Kurbayashi officially appointed as the first honorary consulate general of Tuvalu.

1990 Contributed to third-country trade mainly in Asia. (Singapore, Thailand and South Korea)

1994 Mr. Tokugoro Kuribayashi conferred Order of British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth I I .

1994 Established NANYO BOEKI DISTRIBUTION of U.S.A. INC. in California, U.S.A.

2007 Started export business to Sri Lanka and Nepal. Mr. Tokugoro Kuribayashi

2015 Expanded market to Caribbean.

2016 Mr. Kazunori Kuribayashi (Current Chairman of NBK) appointed Honorary Consul of

              the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in Muroran, Hokkaido.

2017 Expanded market in Africa, working on solar power in this region.
