BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE ON OBESITY

In the Bible, God forbids gluttony, which is excessive eating or drinking. Obesity can cause a
variety of health issues, such as knee and back discomfort as well as heart and circulatory issues.
Paul informs followers of Jesus Christ that their bodies are the Holy Spirit's temples in the New
Testament.

Being overweight is typically an external indicator of an unbalanced existence, barring any very
severe situations. The most frequent causes of eating out of balance include anxiety and despair.
Unbeknownst to most individuals, "anxious eating" occurs frequently. Naturally, there is a lot in
the Bible that discusses how to deal with anxiety and despair. God frequently admonishes His
children to put their trust in Him and to not be afraid (1 Peter 5:7).

"Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God,"
said Jesus, instructing us to achieve a balance between the material and the spiritual (Matthew
4:4). Wisdom is necessary to strike a balance between our physical and spiritual requirements
while also attempting to maintain a healthy eating pattern.

We should also exercise caution in obsessing about our ourselves because, in the end, the Lord
wants His children to take good care of their bodies since that is where the Holy Spirit resides in
His children. An idolatrous person can have a toned, fit figure just like a glutton. Obsession with
weight loss can develop into bulimia or anorexia, both of which are harmful to one's health.
