Rural Immersion Report
We should understand the role and importance of rural life and the people
who are living there because for urban to exist the development of rural has to
go hand in hand The Rural Immersion Programme is
a 3-4 days programme organised by various departments
Of MIT world peace university where students go & stay at a particular village
and become a part of contributing to their community. It is a student
programme where they are responsible for carrying out different operational
activities in the village. The School of Media & Communication organised this
year’s rural immersion programme for the students at Bagechiwadi, a small
yet very advanced village near Akluj, Maharashtra. The programme
commenced from 12th to 15th September. The main concept of this rural
immersion programme was to give students, the opportunity to experience
the rural lifestyle and to give them an idea about how the village functions and
what that village’s community does for their village.
ABOUT BAGECHIWADI
The Rural Immersion programme was from the 12th to the 15th of September
for the students of Media and Communication. On the 12th of September,
students left college in the morning and reached the village in the afternoon
and soon got their accommodations. After having lunch, a Street Play was
conducted by the students in the village. Our Street Play talked about the
problem of water scarcity in the village.
VIDEO DOCUMENTARY
I was in the video documentry team and our main job was to docuent the
village, it’s people, how they live their lives in the village, what are their
problems, how this village is developing and what is the mindset of the
villagers and different point of views, perspectives about various things.
I was one of the cameramen for shooting this documentry. We had interviwed
and talked to many people which included various villagers, their sarpanch,
teachers and principal of the village’s school. Doctors of the village hospital,
etc.
SHRAMA-DAAN
Under this, students carried out various social work. They engaged
themselves into the process of living like the villagers.
This sowed a concept of independence and respect for the villagers. They got
an experience of how life is in a village.
On the last day morning, students visited the sugarcane farms, saw the cattle
and how the dairy works in the village. I and Saquib also took a free-flowing of
an Ex-sarpanch’s son where we discussed how the people their earn, the
whole business aspect of sugarcane farming, fish farming, poultery farming,
etc. At the end, Students thanked the villagers for treating them as their
village’s part and too the leave.
