Aim of the course

This course aims at providing a theoretical and methodological


framework in order to integrate Human Resource Management
(HRM) with business strategy.
HRM is regarded as a general management skill, essential not
only for HR managers but also for people working in different
business areas as they are daily facing coordination, evaluation
and training of their workers.

The exam for attending students consists of two parts:


1. group project (max +3 points)
2. final written test (open ended questions) + interview (optional).

Students who are not part of any group are considered NON-
attending students. The exam for non-attending students is:
final written test + interview (optional)

1. Create the groups (3-4 people)


2. Communicate the composition of the group and a proposal of
the project work (maximum 1000 characters including spaces,
via the following Google form

Ø The proposal should include:
ü the diversity dimension the group intends to investigate;

ü a human resource management activity that supports the inclusion of


“diverse” people and/or that is affected by this form of diversity.
The proposals will be briefly discussed and validate by prof. Gianecchini
a.y. 2022-2023

3. Realize three interviews with workers who are "diverse" with
respect to the chosen dimension (e.g., in the case of age, a worker
under 30, a worker between 30 and 50, a worker over 60) reflecting
with them on the HRM activity that the group decide to study more in
detail (e.g. training for older worker, reverse mentoring).
4. Write the project work report (.doc or .pdf) with the following
structure:
ü Section 1 - Definition of the dimension of diversity and its general relevance -
max 4000 characters (including spaces). All sources should be appropriately
cited.

ü Section 2 - Relevance of the dimension of diversity for HRM - max 10000


characters (including spaces). Interviews and other relevant sources (properly
cited), should be used for developing this part of the document.

ü Section 3 - Suggestion for inclusion - max 10000 characters (including


spaces).
ü Appendix – transcription of interviews.
Final written (and oral) exam

The final exam is a written test consisting of open-ended


questions.
Ø After receiving the evaluation of the written test, students have the
possibility (optional!) to take an oral exam.
Ø Please notice that the oral exam is NOT necessarily going to increase the
grade obtained in the written exam, therefore after the oral exam the final
grade could be higher, the same or lower than the one received for the
written test.

The evaluation of the project work (max 3 points) will be added


to the grade earned in the written test + (if any) oral exam.

Ø In case the grade in the written test is below 18, the evaluation of the
project work will NOT allow for a passing grade.
