BSTM – 1A Mr. Sharwin C. Nonato

APPLICATION:
1. Some people say that addiction is a disease, and others believe it’s a choice.
What do you think, and why? How do you believe counseling, support groups, or
other treatments could help a person who struggles with addiction?

For me, addiction is both a choice and a disease. At first, we may believe
that it is a choice because it is truly a choice whether you are going to take and
abuse an illegal drug or not. After making a choice, it will become a disease,
because once we take an illegal drug, it will not be that easy to stop using or
taking it due to the effect of a specific drug that we are going to use. Some illegal
and dangerous drugs effect is addiction, and that’s why once we take this illegal
drug, it will become a disease.

2. Excuses are things that we do to ourselves to get out of saying "no." What are
some good things that we can tell ourselves to help us say "no" when we want
to? Create a list and hang it as a daily reminder on the wall.
