Communication

Communication is giving information. We can talk or speak to each other, we can talk on the
phone, and we can chat on the internet. We can write a letter, a text, a message and an e-mail.
We can make gestures to show how we feel. You can get information from the media, radio,
TV and the newspaper.

Telephone is a common means of communication. There are 2 kinds of phones: cable phone
and mobile phone. We use cable phones at home, in offices and different institutes. It’s
cheaper than using a mobile phone, but we can use it only for talking and faxing.
On the other hand we can use a mobile phone for talking to our friends and relatives. We can
not only take pictures and make videos but also play games. In addition we can listen to music
on the phone or we can use it as a calculator. I also use it as an alarm clock. Most mobile
phones have got internet access too. That’s why we can download many useful and
entertaining applications on our phones. I have got……

Advantages/ disadvantages of the mobile phone:

Firstly it’s small and it can fit into your pocket. Secondly we can use it for many things.
Thirdly you are available everywhere and every time. Teenagers are the biggest users of
mobile phones and texting is creating a new language, full of abbreviations ( röviditések).
Most people keep in touch with their family and friends via mobile phones. However, using a
mobile phone has some disadvantages too. People say it is unhealthy, because of the radiation.
Some people become addicted to their mobile phones. It is also expensive. A phone call costs
about … forints a minute. We usually have to change every 2 years as it is old fashioned and
out of date or it can go wrong. I have to recharge the battery once a day. Last but not least it
can be annoying, when your phone rings at the wrong time. All in all it’s a useful device and I
couldn’t live without it. I usually use it to chat on the net and when I am at school I use the
mute function.

Computer: Computers help people work faster. Word processing is much faster than writing
by hand and it can help you avoid spelling and grammar mistakes. You can store documents
pictures, films on your computer. You can listen to music, format photos, and even read books
on your PC.
On the other hand it’s expensive; the biggest problem is if you store everything on the
computer it can be lost when the computer goes wrong or crashes. Many people lose their
jobs, because computers can replace them.

Internet: These days internet is easily available. It’s hard to think of life without it. We use it
every day for many hours. The internet can help you find all the information you need, it’s a
fantastic source of information. You just have to type the keywords and the search engine will
find you a lot of websites dealing with the topic. You can buy many things from other
countries and they deliver them to your door. It’s usually much cheaper than buying them in
the shop. However, some people when they surf they don’t know when to stop. They become
addicted to surfing and sitting in front of the computer can cause headache and eye problems.
There are many arguments against young children using the internet alone.
Sending e-mails is a common way of communication and it takes only seconds to get them.
You can chat, you can use the Facebook. Facebook has got advantages and disadvantages as
well. It is good that we can talk to each other, we can upload pictures, funny videos, music
there however, some people like making fun of other people and they upload ugly and
disgusting things. But if we are ill it is easy to get the homework information about school
work. We can also play some games on Facebook and it reminds us the birthdays of our
friends. There are some very good websites which I like for example YouTube where I can
listen to music, watch videos. There are some websites which are not appropriate for children.
I use the internet every day, either on the laptop or on my phone. I use it for two or three
hours but not continuously just when my friends write me. Many young people are addicted to
the Facebook and they live in a cyber world.
