Consultancy Services for 500kV Transmission Lines Interconnection Arrangement for

Power Evacuation from Suki Kinali, Kohala and Mahl Hydro Power Projects in Northern
Areas;
- Design, Construction Supervision and Allied Activities Including Verification of
Contractor’s Invoices and Testing & Commissioning -
Assignment-A: Review of existing data, detailed survey & routing, validation of conductor
selection, finalization of design criteria, design of suitable tower family including fabrication &
load testing of prototypes, preparation of specifications, preparation of bidding documents and
support of the client during tendering. This assignment will be completed in 24 months.

Korea transmission line to be laid in a particular
area considering all technical and
economical factors etc. especially the
designing of towers depending upon
insulation zones and selection of
appropriate conductor & accessories.
3 Insulation He should have a Bachelor Degree in 3
Coordination Electrical Engineering from a recognized
Expert University with 10 years overall experience
and minimum 7 years exposure to relevant
BS power/ activities. He should have experience of
Korea developing models of all transmission
system components and conduct
transmission insulation coordination
technical studies relating to steady state,
fast transient (lightning) and temporary
overvoltages, etc., field strength studies for
substation and overhead lines using EPRI
TLWORKSTATION or other suitable
software.
4 Insulator He should have a Bachelor Degree in 3
 Design Expert relevant field from a recognized University
with 15 years overall experience and
KERI? minimum 10 years of field specific
experience including a minimum of 05
years of work experience with a renowned
design institute / testing laboratory
/manufacturer. He should have experience
of insulator design for EHV transmission
lines. In case of M.Sc in relevant field the

5 Tower Design He should have a Bachelor Degree in 5
Expert Electrical/Mechanical/Civil/Structural
Engineering from a recognized University
BS power/ with 10 years overall experience and
Korea minimum 7 years’ experience including a
minimum of 05 years of work experience
with a renowned design institute/testing
laboratory/manufacturer. He should have
experience of designing EHV Power line
towers using PLS-Tower or other
comparable tower designing software. In
case of M.Sc in relevant field the overall
experience should be 12 years with 8 years
exposure to similar activities.
6 Transmission He should have a Bachelor Degree in 3
Line hardware Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a
design expert recognized University with 10 years overall
experience and minimum 7 years’ relevant
KERI? experience including a minimum of 05
years of work experience with a renowned
design institute / testing laboratory/
manufacturer. He should have experience
of designing transmission line hardware and
damping system for high altitude
transmission lines. In case of M.Sc in
relevant field the overall experience should
be 12 years with 8 years exposure to similar
activities.
7 Transmission He should have a Bachelor Degree in 3
Line damping Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a
system design recognized University with 10 years overall
expert experience and minimum 7 years’ relevant
experience including a minimum of 05
KERI? years of work experience with a renowned
design institute/testing laboratory
/manufacturer. He should have experience
of designing damping system for high
altitude transmission lines. In case of M.Sc
in relevant field the overall experience

8 Transmission He should have a Bachelor Degree in 8
 Line survey & Electrical/ Civil Engineering from a
Mapping recognized University and/or an MS in
Expert degree in GIS/RS with 15 years overall
experience and minimum 10 years exposure

Bogahawatta/ a thorough understanding in dealing with
Sri Lanka satellite imagery and mapping of
transmission lines using latest software &
techniques and have experience in detailed
plans and profiling along with contour

9 Geotechnical He should have a Bachelor Degree in 6

project area. In case of M.Sc in relevant
field the overall experience should be 12
years with 8 years exposure to similar
activities.
11 Project He should be an Engineering graduate from 3
Planning & a recognized University with 15 years
contract overall experience and minimum 10 years
Expert exposure to Project related activities. He
should have experience of developing
project implementation planning,
procurement planning & packaging and
overall project execution planning using the
latest software and techniques. In case of
M.Sc. in relevant field the overall
experience should be 10 years with 7 years
exposure to similar activities.
12 Environment/ He should have Master’s degree in 6

Resettlement from a recognized university. He should
