Legal Environment on Human Resource

Truly, there are cases where discrimination is present in the workplace, including human resources. I am
relieved that there is a law prohibiting workplace discrimination, known as the Civil Rights Act of 1964,
which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, or national origin. This type of
discrimination is extremely damaging to an organization because it tends to break down relationships
due to the distinctions and barriers that are created. The provisions of this civil rights act prohibited sex
and race discrimination in hiring, promoting, and firing. Race, color, and other factors have nothing to do
with working efficiently or finding a job. It should be noted that discrimination is a criminal offense. In
the video, I was astounded to learn that if two men named Muhammed and John applied for the same
job, the man named John has a better chance of getting a call from human resources. It’s so unfortunate
knowing that just because you have that kind of name, it stops you from getting a job. The Equal
Employment Opportunity Act requires employers to treat all employees equally when hiring. The law
prohibits discrimination based on a person's position, and human resources should hire employees
based on merit. I’m really grateful that there is a law such as this because it’s really no fair that people
with strong connections and great appearances are more likely get the job than those people who really
worked so hard for it. The qualified skills should be the one that is based on and not your looks, culture,
beliefs and religion. According to the video, there is also a legal environment in human resources. It's
great to know those things because they'll help us understand what's right in human resources.  I also
admit that it is reasonable that HR will supervise emails, computers, and other work-related materials all
things considered as they are from the company. Further personal information should not be involved,
in protection with the Privacy Act. I also like how there is what we call workplace security because it
makes the employee feel safe at work. A drug-free workplace is definitely a plus because we all know
what drugs can do to a person, and it will prevent further harm from coworkers, even in the workplace.
Human resources are an extremely valuable asset in any company, and as such, they must be managed
effectively.
