Dear Friend of UNICEF,
Thanks to your generous donation in 2021, we can
quickly and effectively response to emergencies, and
continue our vital work to serve and support all children
in over 190 countries and territories.
Like previous year, we continue to go green by not
printing Tax Exemption Receipts, but we have instead
attached an e-receipt for your donation in 2021 at the
end of this letter.
UNICEF won’t stop until the rights of every child
are protected. And we stayed and delivered, helping
communities contain the pandemic — while protecting
health workers and children as they faced challenges.
The pandemic showed us what we can achieve through
global solidarity. By investing and working together for
children, we can re-build systems shattered by the
pandemic — and make them stronger.
And now it's time to look forward to 2022. The new year
brings new optimism as well as new challenges in our

pursue a more equitable world for every child.

every child has the right to PLAY
Play is a right for every child and enabler of children’s
learning, health, and well-being. Play also drives social
change, supporting the development of all children and
fostering inclusive communities. Yet children around the
world are being denied this right, particularly children
with disabilities.
In 2017, UNICEF released a report on “Childhood
Disability in Malaysia”, which reported that public
knowledge was low, attitudes were predominantly
negative, and practices excluded children with
disabilities. To demonstrate inclusivity at its best, we
collaborated with Sime Darby Property (SDP) to design
and build Malaysia first inclusive playground located in
the city of Elmina, Subang, Selangor. This playground
was designed with children both with and without
disabilities, their families, and several leading
organisations for people with disabilities.
In addition, UNICEF developed an open-source tool
Best Business Practice Circular &

Guidance Toolkit to guide and inspire widespread
replication of inclusive playgrounds across Malaysia
and beyond.

Global Forum for Children and Youth (CY21).
