Max was stuck on an islet covered in forest. One night, when the wind is gusting from the west,
lightning hits forcibly the west end of the islet and started to burst fire to the forest. The fire is very
dangerous, burning everything in its way, and without involvement the fire will burn down the whole
islet, killing anyone in the process. There are precipices around the islet, so he cannot jump off.
Question: How can the Max survive the fire? (There are no pails, tubs or any other things to put out the
fire)

“Blasted Hope”
By: Leona Florentino
What gladness and what joy
are endowed to one who is loved
for truly there is one to share
all his sufferings and his pain.
My fate is dim, my stars so low
perhaps nothing to it can compare,
for truly I do not doubt
for presently I suffer so.
