know the factors which control the amount of erosion and transport
know where and when a river deposits its load

be able to describe and explain the formation of the landforms in the upper
course of a river – potholes, rapids, waterfalls and gorges, interlocking spurs
be able to describe and explain the formation of the landforms in the middle
and lower courses of a river – meanders and oxbow lakes, flood plains and
