HYMN GUIDE FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

Introit: Invocabit Me
Entrance Antiphon for the First Sunday of Lent, from Psalm 91:15-16
Invocabit me, et ego exaudiam eum; eripiam eum, et glorificabo
eum, longitudine dierum adimplebo eum.
Qui habitat in adjutorium Altissimi, in protectione Dei caeli
commorabitur.
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto,
sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper, et in saecula
saeculorum. Amen.

When he calls on me, I will answer him; I will deliver him and give him glory, I
will grant him length of days.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High and abides in the shade of
the Almighty.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 91:1-2, 10-15
Russel Matthew A. Patolot, ssp

Lenten Gospel Acclamation

Russel Matthew A. Patolot, ssp
Based on Matthew 4:4b
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory!
One does not live on bread alone
but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

Awit sa Paghahandog
Lucio San Pedro, batay sa Salmo 23
Karagdagang Pagsasaayos nina Ma. Andrelisse I. Yorro at Russel Matthew A. Patolot, ssp

Create in Me
Based on Psalm 51
George Misulia
Ref: Create in me a clean heart,
put a new and right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from Your presence
and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

Have mercy on me, O God, in Your goodness;

in Your compassion, blot out my sin.
Thoroughly cleanse me from all of my guilt,
wash me ‘till I’m whiter than snow. (Ref)

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation;

uphold me with a willing spirit
so I will teach transgressors Your ways
and sinners will return to You. (Ref)

You are pleased with sincerity of heart,

not with sacrifices or with holocausts.
My sacrifice is a broken spirit
for You will not refuse a humble heart. (Ref)

Parce Domine
Traditional Lenten Gregorian Hymn
Ant: Parce Domine, parce populo Tuo;
ne in aeternum irascaris nobis.

Flectamus iram vindicem, ploremus ante Judicem;

Clamemus ore supplici, dicamus omnes cernui. (Ant)
