The Colour Wheel / Circle

Primary colours - Blue, Red, Yellow

Secondary colours - Orange, violet, Green

Tertiary colours - Blue green, Blue violet, Red violet, Red orange, Yellow orange,

Yellow green.

Complementary colours - Colours opposite each other on the colour wheel.

Example; red – green

Analogous colours – 3 to 5 colours near each other on the colour wheel

Example; Blue green, blue, blue violet, violet, red violet.

Warm colours – Red violet, red, red orange, orange, yellow orange, yellow

Cool Colours – Violet, blue violet, blue, blue green, green, yellow green

Tints – Colour plus white

Tones – Colour plus grey

Shades – Colour plus black
